Thirteenth Annual

AUSACE International Conference

"Best Communication Practices in an Interconnected World"

 

We are in a continuous state of rapid change in highly interconnected technological, economic, political and cultural environments. Communicators in business, government and the not-for-profit sector are challenged as never before to develop coherent, ethical, effective and compelling communications programs.

 

The objective of the Conference is to provide an effective and established forum for discussion and dissemination of original and recent advances int he field of communication. Its aim is to allow leading edge researchers and practitioners in a wide variety of academic areas to present papers that address novel, challenging and innovative ideas, concepts or systems, and reports on real practices.

 

Communication educators, students and media professionals throughout the Middle East, the United States and the rest of the world are invited to submit research papers and panel proposals for the Thirteenth International Conference of the Arab-U.S. Association for Communication Educators (AUSACE). The Conference is hosted by the School of Mass Communications at Virginia Commonwealth University.

 

This year's Conference theme is "Best Communication Practices in an Interconnected World."

 

Papers, panels and workshops in English and/or Arabic on the Conference theme are welcome, as well as papers and panels on topical areas in communication, including:

Society, Language and Culture

Education and Research

Issues in Advertising

Issues in Public Relations

Issues in Journalism

Issues in Health and Environment

Government NGO

Intercultural Communication

Issues in Social Media (Web 2.0)

Standards of Excellence for Arab World Accreditation

 

Deadlines and Submission Requirements

The deadline for paper abstracts and panel and workshop proposals is February 1, 2008. Completed papers for all presentations ar due by May 1, 2008. Applicants may post, e-mail or fax their material in Arabic or English. Bilingual contributors are required to send abstracts in both languages. Applicants whose abstracts and/or proposals are approved will receive confirmation by March 1, 2008.

Paper Abstracts and panel and workshop proposals should be no more than 300 words in length.

Panel proposals should include the theme of the panel and the names and affiliations of no more than four (4) panelists.

All session rooms will be equipped with a computer with MS Office and video projector. If you require additional equipment, please indicate your needs in your paper proposal.

Papers should be between 3,000 - 4,000 words, excluding References.

Articles should be typed using Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1.5 inch line spacing, and formatted to portrait orientation.

If you include Tables and/or Figures, make sure they are no wider than 12 cms.

Do not use color in Tables or Figures.

Remove all hyperlinks.

Include a complete list of references using APA style as outlined in the Publications Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition.

Please include on the first page your name, address, contact numbers and e-mail address, as well as a 100 word biography.

The intent of the Organizing Committee is to publish online all of the papers that are presented in AUSACE 2008 in a proceeding entitled "Best Communication Practices in an Interconnected World," subject to funding availability.
